A selection of Character Sketches

This is a character that I developed for a book that I’m working on. She is adventurous, imaginative and practical in the way she dresses. Her hair is braided to keep it off her face, so when she is working on her many projects or exploring, it doesn’t get in her way. But it does always look a bit disheveled. She can be bothered with skirts, they get in the way when climbing a tree, and prefers overalls for all the pockets. Welly boots are her shoes of choice so she can muck about.

Here is another outfit option, but I ultimately decided to go with overalls. She also looked a little older than I wanted in this sketch.

Of course an explorer cannot be without her trusty assistant and partner in crime! I wanted her dog to have the same disheveled quality as her, so they would look as if they spend all their time together going on adventures. I wanted the dog to be as big as her, and have that same look of optimism and curiosity.
